Maalim Seif asks Kikwete, Shein to Take leadership responsibility


Zanzibar’s CUF presidential candidate, Maalim Seif Sharif Hamad, has asked presidents Jakaya Kikwete and Ali Mohamed Shein to  observe constitutions and laws of the land during their last days of leadership:
“I sincerely call upon president Kikwete and president Shein to avoid using excessive force and cooperate in maintaining peace and protecting the rights of wananchi. I’m ready to cooperate with them as I have been doing all the time. We need to cooperate to save Zanzibar and Tanzania from the international disgrace,” Maalim Seif said.

Speaking about the cancellation of election results, Maalim Seif said it was a personal statement by the chairman of the Zanzibar Electoral Commission (ZEC), Jecha Salum Jecha, adding that CUF has been given strength following the statements by two ZEC commissioners who confirmed that Jecha’s statement was personal.
